Homosexuals Anonymous Had Kenya Event In 2009; Anti-Gay Persecution Campaign Now Underway |
| kenya2African violence against the LGBT community is partially the result of American anti-gay and “ex-gay” activists stirring the pot in countries such as Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda. We all know that Exodus International’s board member Don Schmierer was at a Spring 2009 conference in Kampala that helped lead to the notorious Anti-Homosexuality Bill.

LGBT People and Their Families Win Out |
| WASHINGTON, DC - The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force responded to news reports stating that Focus on the Family will be closing down its controversial “Love Won Out” program because of budget troubles. The "Love Won Out" program claimed to ‘change’ the sexual orientation of gay people. At its recent annual convention, the American Psychological Association (APA) adopted a resolution that states that mental health professionals should avoid telling clients that they can change sexual orientation through therapy or other treatments, such as the one given at the “Love Won Out” program.

Mission: Truth Wins Out is a non-profit organization that defends the GLBT community against anti-gay misinformation campaigns, counters the ex-gay industry and educates America about gay life.
Creed: Truth Wins Out is resolute in its belief that ex-gay programs are a politically motivated fraud designed to exploit vulnerable clients for financial gain and pass anti-gay legislation. Attempts to change sexual orientation are patently offensive, discriminatory by definition, theologically shaky, uniformly unsuccessful and medically unsound. Truth Wins Out firmly believes that ex-gay programs can damage families, lower self-esteem, generate guilt and shame and sometimes lead to suicide. The organization holds as self-evident that the world would be a better place without ex-gay programs, which are an unnecessary and destructive hindrance to the natural coming out process.
Goal: Truth Wins Out aims to end the dangerous practice of ex-gay therapy and fight back against all anti-gay propaganda. We will do this in America and, when necessary, abroad. The organization will tirelessly advocate against such programs, vigorously disseminate educational material, and doggedly pursue actions that will help undermine the ex- gay myth and provide accurate information about issues that affect GLBT lives.
We firmly believe in the principle that leaving the “Big Lie” unchallenged invites prejudice to prosper, falsehoods to flower and fiction to be confused with fact. TWO stands for the idea that education will overcome ignorance and truth will one day triumph.
TWO uses a five-pronged strategy to fight for equality:
1. Challenging the ‘Ex-Gay’ Industry: TWO has pioneered efforts to counter the biggest lie of all — the “ex-gay” industry. These dangerous programs include discredited therapists, anti-gay ministries and right wing organizations that claim people can “pray away the gay.” Well-funded “ex-gay” groups target children, teens and young adults and exploit their families. They have conferences where charlatans take money from desperate parents and indoctrinate youth with damaging pseudoscience. Fortunately, TWO is on the ground at many of these seminars to combat the lies and oppose the propaganda by presenting the truth. We monitor these groups, conduct research and use the media to expose the harm done by the “ex-gay” industry.
2. Setting the Record Straight: Anti-gay organizations distort science to smear the GLBT community. They deliberately misuse legitimate studies to persuade people to vote against equality. TWO believes that allowing the “Big Lie” to go unchallenged is dangerous, shortsighted and allows falsehoods to flourish. Every time our opponents misrepresent our lives we must stand up and set the record straight.
TWO has established a unique and groundbreaking program called “Respect My Research.” When anti-gay organizations distort science we make them pay dearly. We go directly to the scientist whose work has been twisted and inform them of the infraction. We then film these researchers demanding that the offenders apologize and immediately stop misquoting their work. TWO places these videos on the Internet for the world to see. We also use them to expose our opponents with the public and media. Our work has essentially created a “Library of Lies” that has brought great dishonor and shame to anti-gay organizations. More important, it puts our opponents on notice that they will be held accountable and exposed for each and every lie.
3. Rapid Response: When the GLBT community is attacked – TWO is often a first responder. We move quickly and use the modern tools of communications to outmaneuver our foes. This includes major web-based campaigns and press releases strategically designed to accomplish our goals. We fight anti-gay lies in America and even internationally, as anti-gay groups spread their misinformation throughout the world.
4. Media Advocacy: TWO deploys expert spokespeople who can stand up to those who hurt the GLBT community. The organization frequently speaks out on television, radio, newspapers and on the Internet.
5. University Outreach: Polls show that today’s youth are more accepting of GLBT people than any previous generation. Of this key demographic, anti-gay forces realize they are losing the battle over hearts and minds. To reverse this encouraging trend, right wing organizations are infiltrating colleges and university campuses with “ex-gay” speakers. These activists use deception to plant seeds of intolerance in fertile minds. They allow impressionable students to justify discrimination and look down upon their peers. Truth Wins Out provides campuses with experts to debunk the ex-gay myth and educates tomorrow’s leaders. We arm students with knowledge and teach them how to fight back against those who would undermine their future.
